معسكرات التعبير الرقمي العربي تجربة فريدة تتجدد منذ 8 سنوات تجمع في مناسبة سنوية أكثر من 70 فتى و فتاة من أنحاء العالم العربي في رحلة تعلّم و استكشاف الذات و العالم لمدة أسبوعين. خلال مدة المعسكر تتعرّض الفتيات و الفتية في بيئة آمنة إلى طيف واسع من المحفزّات الفنية و يستكشفون أدوات للتعبير و التواصل في إطار منهج متوازن يضم موضوعات تقنية المعلوماتية و التصوير و إنتاج الأفلام و معالجة الأصوات إلى جانب الرياضة؛ المنهج مصمم بحيث يكون لكل مشارك و مشاركة مسار فريد يتوائم مع طبيعتها و اهتماماته و قدراتها و هو في الوقت ذاته خبرة تشاركية بانفتاح على الذات و الآخرين.

مؤسسة التعبير الرقمي العربي (أضِف) تسعى إلى ترسيخ ملكات التعبير الحرّ و التعلّم الذاتي و تتبنى في ممارستها مفاهيم الرخص الحرة و البرمجيات الحرة و العمل التشاركيّ.

من أولويات المعسكرات منذ دورتها الأولى ضمان فرص لفتيان و فتية من دول مختلفة و خلفيات اجتماعية متباينة للانصهار في تجربة تعلّم، لذا فإن نصف عدد المشاركين في المعسكر يشاركون بمنح و أنصاف منح.

استمرار تجربة المعسكرات يتوقف على قدرتنا على تدبير الموارد المالية اللازمة لعملية المعسكر، بما يتضمنه ذلك من بنية تحتية و عتاد و تكاليف سفر و إقامة الفتية و أجور عادلة لواضعي المناهج و المدربين و الميسرين الذين نحرص على تناسب عدهم مع عدد المشاركين من الفتية و الفتيات، و كذلك الطاقم الإداري و مقدمو الرعاية الصحية المصاحبين للمعسكر، و أدوار أخرى عديدة في شبكة متسعة من المهارات و الكفاءات المطلوبة و العمل الدؤوب لأشهر لإخراج هذين الأسبوعين الفريدين.

Short Summary The Arab Digital Expression Foundation (ADEF) is an Arab platform that believes knowledge production and free expression contribute radically to building and strengthening engaged communities. Through active and grassroots interventions where technology acts as a key enabler, ADEF builds spaces, fosters environments, enhances skills and develops tools to support individuals and groups working on the ground to develop and strengthen their practices and engagement with society.

And for the eight year we are running our Arab Digital Expression Camps. A two-week summer program for youth between the ages of 12-15.

ADEC is a two-week summer camp for 80 participants from all Arab countries. Emphasis in trying to ensure that 50% of the youth participating are female. Residential fun-based summer camps allow for the creation of an environment conducive to free expression. Coupled with a carefully developed program – a series of workshops youth join daily – and highly trained, involved and enthusiastic trainers and staff; the results are astounding. Youngsters and trainers share experiences and bond through both the physical and digital spaces they create. ADEF provides the structure and then leaves the participants to explore and experiment with digital video, digital sound and music, creative applications on the web, creative physical activities and art workshops. Because of the diversity and intensity of the program and participants, the two-week time frame is often life-changing, for both youngsters and trainers. Youngsters go on field trips to explore the historic heritage of the host country.

Final products are displayed on the Web. Other avenues of exhibition are also arranged, through local and regional media and partner organizations.

Campers themselves come not only from different countries but also from different socio-economic backgrounds (underprivileged, middle class and upper middle class). ADEF pursues funding to provide full scholarships (including travel) to underprivileged youth and partial scholarships for middle class youth while parents of upper middle class youth cover the full fees of enrollment. Funding organizations, companies, communities and individuals also contribute to scholarships. This collaborative approach promotes a larger sense of community and linkages and is enriching and empowering.

We cannot do this without the ongoing support of people just like you who believe in building a foundation within our youth for a brighter future.

What We Need & What You Get

With this campaign we are aiming to fund 30% of our total cost of running the annual camp. To ensure a safe, healthy, productive and fun environment we have selected Morgan Village in Ismailiya, Egypt for the fourth year in a row for their superb level of care, privacy, security and access to amenities needed to produce this one of a kind event. The costs of an residential camp for 75 youth is high, and this year's budget is $100,000. Since we are a not-for-profit organization, our funding comes entirely by people who believe in youth empowerment, from organizations and companies down to individuals who can make all the difference.

The cost to fund one child is $1,450 from out of country and 10,000LE (Egyptian Pounds) to cover a child in country. We believe in offsetting costs, where those who can afford to pay full tuition, will offset the costs by providing scholarships to those who otherwise could not attend.

Even if we don't reach our goal with this campaign, every penny raised will go to ensuring our camps are a success.

The Impact Arab youth often lack in resources to express themselves, their identity and their culture. It is through this unique experience that they gain knowledge of their world around them and their space in that world. Campers go on to become mentors who go on to become trainers. Our community continues to grow and that is our main indicator for success. .
