محضر:Lina Attalah meeting
This was one of a series of meetings with ADEF board members to discuss Deca and explore ideas of different stakeholders
Feb. 7, 2012
- Managing Editor of Al Masry Al Youm English now Egypt Independent
- Lina advised to let Deca grow organically, let the community itself build it, let the space be for anyone to come in
- Lina said that from the top of her mind she could see a few feasible workshops
- A workshop on how to create a local paper that is relevant to locals as well as the broader community
- The Artists/Techies workshop (part of the Arab techies project), where collaboration between artists and techies would be developed
Creating a newsprint consisting in archiving the richness of the current unplanned discussions, truth telling on how it is done and archiving conversations - failure, excitement, hesitations. This could be collaboratively curated and result in different forms of print outs, maybe a newspaper or another form of hard material print, possible tape recording. Deca could be used as a space for editing, whether written/audio/video material coming out of the ongoing archiving process. It would be history in the making - maybe have a Guest Curator : space is sight of production, each edition would be used differently and built on last. On budget : each guest curator needs to find money through the community that is participating. It is low cost, selling it could make it sustainable. A team from Adef could curate how to create a camp, others how to make a sit in, how to make a field hospital
