Feedback from Sima on sponsorship opportunities for Syrian campers

Sima and Fatma have difficulties in finding sponsorship for Syrian campers since the Syrian community is facing funding difficulties for food and shelter already.

The UNHCR is not helping here since Egypt is not officially an country hosting Syrian refugees. The UNHCR is working only with those who are registered with the yellow Asylum seeker card: number of which is now 30,000 and 20,000 are awaiting registration.

Request for ADEF’s assistance with a documentary about Tadamons 35 projects with refugees

Fatma: We need ADEF’s assistance in making a documentary film for the different kinds of activities carried out by Tadamon (35 projects).

Funding opportunities for Somali refugees

Fatma: The Arab League has funding which we could explore

ADEF has briefing (sponsorship letter) to send to both Fatma and Sima

Tadamon work on child protection

Tadamon trained 250 people on child protection. Fatma will send Noha something written on their ToT curriculum as they also have an in-house child protection consultant.

Exploring rich Sudanese or other refugees to sponsor

Sawa, a rich women refugee organization based in Maadi. Fatma will contact them for funding opportunities for campers.

Exploring potential funding from a UK based organization to sponsor Syrian campers

Sima will explore if we could get funding for Syrian campers for the August 16 – 31st, 2013 camp.

Scholarship matching scheme with partner NGOs

ADEF has a scholarship matching scheme for partner NGOs. Ranwa and Gehan can send the letter to Sima and Fatma

Setting up computer labs at the Syrian Support Community Center

The Community Center is launching a musical school and to overcome the obstacle of funding for musical instruments the center could use digital music composer software.

ADEF can start setting up the labs at the Community Center when they can, after the camp.

ADEF Digital Expression and Empowerment ToT program for partner NGOs

ADEF will start a 3 year funded Digital Empowerment project soon. Within the framework of this project there are a series of ToT workshops planned to cover the following themes:

  • Intro to Expression
  • Intro to Digital Expression
  • Soft skills
  • Child protection, and
  • Workshop design

Due to ADEF’s limited human resources, ADEF will include training of communing workers from partner NGOs in those specific workshops according to project time plan.

Actions to be taken

Fatma will contact Sawa and connect us with them by Sunday. ADEF can have a meeting with them right after.

Fatma will contact the Arab League about sponsoring. She will come back to us with the result of exploration by Wednesday.

Ranwa and Gehan will send camp and partner NGO documents to Fatma and Sima

There are 2 organizations one in Italy (cultural focus), and the other in UK to provide funding for campers.

Fatma will send child protection material brief to Noha
