Leila Zaghloul meeting

This was one of a series of meetings to discuss Deca as part of outreach

Leila is the main contact for shabab el rouh - NGO in Moqattam - school in zabaleen

It is proposed that we work with them in a Deca-NGO partnership as part of outreach

• 135 kids - 9 to 15 years

• Open every day

• The students learn to write their names and then the letters of the alphabet through sound. This idea is to teach children how to know their name by the way it looks, not how to read it

• The space offers computers, drama, and choral

• They teach girls and boys separately

• They have made (girls and boys) a drama about their lives which they are happy to perform at different places

• Garbage Dreams - a film that follows three young men, one of whom is Nabeel who works with Leila. He teaches the younger kids. An idea may be to invite him in Deca to show the film, give him the opportunity to learn about the space, and either at the same time or later invite along the students he works with
