Further to my tele-conversation Yesterday, I would like to thank you for your time and for the interest to hear more about ADEF: Arab Digital Expression Foundation.

ADEF is an Arab platform that believes knowledge production, freedom of expression, and digital empowerment, are main tools contributing in building and strengthening engaged communities.

ADEF targeted age group is between 12 to 35 years old across the Arab World. We cooperate with talented techies & artists to develop specialised curriculums that are focusing on enhancing expression skills and developing creativity tools using open source based information and communication technologies.

ADEF current projects: 1- Arab Digital Expression Camps - ADEC: is a two-week summer camp that gather each year Arab youngsters aged between 12-15 to freely explore and experiment with the rich programming in both digital and physical activities. (Camp brochure is attached)

2- Digital Expression Community Area – DECA: is an open-access and safe space where youth can explore their talents through different types of workshops in: Animation, Web Design, Music, Photography, Visual Art, Crafts …. Etc.

3- Digital Youth Empowerment Project: aims to create 10 digital expression community areas (DECAs), each one will provide to its community workshops in four specific tracks: Video, Sound & Music, Computing and Visual Arts.

Digital Security: one of our main projects, since the core of ADEF’s activities is based on the use of open source programs, we are also specialised in providing the digital security support to different beneficiaries.

Recently, we have been requested by parents from our network to design a digital security workshop addressed to youngsters in preparatory cycle; as many of their kids had faced different types of insecurities due to a lack of digital security on most of mobile apps.

We immediately cooperated with one of our brilliant techies, Eng. Ramy Raouf, to design a simplified 90 minutes session that would offer to youngsters in preparatory cycle a primary explanation about digital security and some important tips they can use to be digitally protected.

We will be glad to cooperate with your esteemed school to arrange Digital Security Sessions for preparatory cycle, and therefore we propose to hold a meeting with the responsible department to discuss sessions' logistics and set convenient dates.

The Arab Digital Expression Foundation (ADEF)

is an Arab platform that creates experiences to enhance self-exploration, creative digital expression, critical thinking for youth in the Arab region via the use of open source based Information and Communication Technologies. ADEF builds spaces, fosters environments, enhances skills and develops tools to support individuals and groups working on the ground to develop and strengthen their practices and engagement with society.

Digital security

Digital security is in the core of ADEF’s work system, it is an important part in the summer camp, and periodically we conduct public workshops and brainstorming sessions through them we seek to help youth developing better understanding on how to use the Internet, mobile phones and various applications and social networking sites and search engines in a way enabling them from taking decisions independently and to explore various potential problems they could face, such as extortion and ridicule, technical breakthroughs and the misuse of images. With boys and girls We share the knowledge of privacy policy, the relationship with communications services providers, the different practices and Apps that could protect the personal data and let us have more control on it

Are one of our main projects to deliver our goals, ADEC is a two-week summer camp that gather each year Arab children aged between 12-15 to freely explore and experiment with the rich programming in both digital and physical activities

Digital Youth Empowerment Project

This project is to create 10 digital expression community areas that will provide training workshops in four tracks ( video, sound and music, computing and graphic expression) the project starts by an extensive Training of Trainers (ToT) to community workers at partners organisation, in return those trainers will conduct trainings to youngsters in the summer

Digital Expression Community Area (DECA)

It is an open-access and safe space where Courses and workshops are offered in animation, web design, music,photography, arts and crafts, etc.
